Participation Workers’ Network for Wales website re-launch

The new website for the PWNW is now live.

Apologies for the delay with the site – although we have been keen to develop and launch it as quickly as possible it has also been really important to get exactly what we want and this has taken longer than expected.

What you need to do as a member

With the re-launch of the site ( www.participationworkerswales.org.uk) and the new features there are a few things that all members need to complete. This should take no longer than a few minutes:

  • Choose your new password: All passwords are currently set as pwnw . When you are logged in please click on the link to ‘Update your profile’ and choose your new password
  • Enter your project details: We’ve transferred over most of the details about members from the previous site, but some of the info was out of date. Please re-enter your project name and details, your area of work and whether you want e-briefings in English or Welsh.
  • Help us measure our work: The PWNW needs to evidence how our service reaches children and young people indirectly and by answering a few simple questions you can help us do this

We are keen to ensure that all members of the PWNW are still using the service. Because of this we will be removing members who do not update their profiles from the membership list.

New Features

The new website ( www.participationworkerswales.org.uk) aims to build on the first version while not completely overhauling the design and content. Changes and new features for the website include:

  • Improved search function: A new search tool with greater accuracy has been developed. The website can now be searched by keyword, topic and site area.
  • Members’ Area expansion: The Members’ Area has been expanded to better hold the wide variety of good practice entered by members. New sections include Training, Awareness Raising, Opportunities for Young People and Research.
  • Add Your Own: We’ve changed the Add Your Own area to make it easier for you to add examples of good practice. You can also now add resources including posters, audio and videos to share with others,
  • Password functions – members are now able to choose their own password and to use a ‘Remember Me’ tool to remain logged in to the Members’ Area. All passwords for members are currently set as pwnw but can be changed after first login,
  • Participation in Wales section: Greater detail has been added on the policies and structures that have led to the current participation field in Wales, with links to further information also included,
  • Participation Consortium and Unit: A new area of the site has been developed to give increased detail on the workings of the Participation Consortium, Participation Unit and the different Working Groups,
  • Resources and Links: New sections have also been set up holding key participation resources and linking to other organisations respectively.

Standards Microsite

The National Children and Young People’s Participation Standards for Wales and Impact Assessment Framework will enable practitioners to assess their work against the Standards and if successful, organise an inspection of their organisation.

The Standards microsite is still being developed and will be available in the next few weeks. Again apologies for the delay, both the PWNW and the Participation Unit are working closely with the designers to ensure the final website is easy to use and of a high standard.

Find any problems?

We have been working hard to ensure that the site is free of bugs and errors but you may find some issues. If you find a problem with the site report it to Ed.Janes@childreninwales.org.uk
